Olympus Zuiko ZD 7-14 f4.0

The Olympus super-wide 7-14mm lens makes quite a contrast to the Leica APO 180/3.4 on the previous Lympa Log posting of aerial photos. I was firmly rooted to the ground for this photo, pun intended, since a tree stump at my roadside stop provided a steady platform for the E-330. The tripod was in the car, but light changes fast in moments like this. The slight soft pink on the left horizon disappeared before I could have possibly set up the tripod for this wide-angle landscape.

Witchepec Sunset Trinity River Canyon

East of Eureka, California, Highway 96 goes north from Willow Creek into the wilderness of the Hoopa and Yurok reservations. The sun had just set along the narrow road heading down the Trinity River three or four miles above where it merges with the Klamath River at Witchepec.

Olympus E330 with Zuiko ZD 7-14mm f4.0 zoom at 7mm, 1/20th sec, f5.6, ISO 100, RAW capture, Live View Mode A, screen tilted out with camera braced on top of a tree stump.
