Amy at the Arkley

Leica Summilux-R 50mm f1.4

The Arkley Center for the Performing Arts recently honored the artists who contributed to the theater restoration. Local pianist, Amy Sczepanski, performed with the Steinway for a couple of hours. People could sit in the theater or hear her fine music as background in the lobby.

Olympus E-330 with Leica Summilux-R 50mm f1.4 1/20th sec, ISO 250, braced on a theater seat-back, focused with 10x magnification in Live View Mode B, then switched to Mode A that gives the faster shutter release with no lag time.

When everyone was in the lobby, I took advantage of the empty theater and climbed up on the stage to photograph up close. It helps to not get into trouble when you know the stage production manager, David Kenworthy, who assisted me with the formal portrait of the Arkley Center building last month!

All photos taken with the Leica Summilux 50mm f1.4, either wide open or about a half-stop down.  The fast lens and short telephoto effect on the FourThirds format made a perfect combination for theater photography.
