Coast Guard City
Eureka, California
Through an act of Congress in 2000, Eureka, California was designated as an official Coast Guard City, only the second one in the country. Festivities are held every summer. The city hosts a Coast Guard Ball with fireworks and flies Coast Guard flags thoughout town. Also, local merchants use store windows to honor the Coast Guard. The Many Hands Gallery in Old Town asked for a photographic display, so I used a map of the area, some graphics and my photos to show the activities of our Coast Guard Group Humboldt Bay. The poster is five feet long and on display in Old Town Eureka at 3rd and F Streets.
