Just north of Orick, California, the coastal sunset peaks under a low layer of clouds to spotlight meadows and a stand of old-growth redwoods. Some of the world's tallest trees can be found in the Redwood National and State Parks along Highway 101 north of Eureka, California.
The National Park was designate in 1968 and expanded in 1978. Of the 85,000 acres of remaining old-growth redwoods, the Redwood National and State Parks contain 38,982 acres along 37 miles of Pacific coastline. |
