Five thousand feet over the mouth of Redwood Creek near Orick, Lagoons State Park makes a "string of pearls" along the North Coast. Just above the curved river section by the coast is Redwood National Park headquarters, followed to the south by Freshwater Lagoon, Stone Lagoon, Dry Lagoon and Big Lagoon. Patrick’s Point juts into the Pacific with Trinidad head visible just above it and to the east.
Arcata and Eureka are in the hazy area, upper left, with Humboldt Hill and Table Bluff almost at the top of the picture. Finally, the last strip of land on the horizon is Cape Mendocino, marking a southern edge to the impressive North Coast of California.
